About Wels

Wels is the second largest city in the state of upper Austria. Wels dates back to the roman times and is located at 317 meters above sea level. 2 rivers flow through the city itself the Mühlback artificially diverted from the Traun and the Grünback rivers.

Most of the urban tourism is conditioned by the Welser messe. Every year up to 150.000 overnight stays are booked in the city. And a further 90.000 day visitors.
