About Gesäuse National Park

The Gesäuse national park is located in the state of Styria, the national park was founded in 2002 and is almost completely owned by the Styrian state. The park is characterized by the steep Gesäuse mountains and gorge like valleys. The park is located between 490  to 2369 meters above sea level and has a surface area of around 110 km2

75% of the Gesäuse national park is a so called natural zone in which nature is left to its own and no human interference is allowed.
