About Lake Achensee

Lake Achensee is the largest lake of the state Tyrol and is located between the Karwendel and Brandenberger alps. The lake is up to 133 meters deep and hardly ever exceeds the 20 degrees Celsius mark. Lake Achensee is perfect for sailing and surfing due to its location there is a perfect wind. The water quality of the lake  has improved since the 1990s to a high level,  with a visibility of 6.3

Lake Achensee also acts as a basin for a powerplant which provides hydroelectric power since 1927.
