About Lienz

Lienz is the largest town of east Tyrol and also is home to a ski resort. Close to the Italian border this resort has a clear southern temperament. The region stands out for its unspoiled nature and lends itself for various sporting activities. The town itself offers museums and a lot of history to it dating back 100s-1000s of years. the ski resort is separated on two sides of the city on 2 different mountains. The Hochstein where you will find more difficult slopes and Zettersfeld where beginners will be able to pick up the new sport. From this mountain you will have an amazing view over the Carinthian dolomites and the Weissensee.

Strengths and weaknesses:

Strengths:

Child friendly, this compact resort is ideal for family especially the Zettersfeld mountain.

Low prices, the resort cannot be compared with the larger Austrian ski resorts such as Ischgl and ski Arlberg but prices are a lot lower in Lienz.

Weakpoints:

The accessibility is not the easiest of the Austrian alps and you will have to drive a few hours from the nearest airport.
