About Ski Arlberg

Ski Arlberg is the largest ski resort of Austria with 305km of slopes. Located between Tyrol and Vorarlberg the resort offers a wide variety of slopes for all levels of skiers and snowboarders. Two of the most famous places in Austria are part of this large ski resort, Sankt Anton am Arlberg in Tyrol and Lech in Vorarlberg.

Ski Arlberg is one of the best ski resorts in the entire alps. The area is known as a schneeloch which results in above average snowfall. This means that the quality of the slopes is usually really high and downhill runs until the valleys are almost always open.

The western half of the ski resort extends around villages such as Lech, Oberlech and Zürs. The eastern half is accessible from Sankt Anton am Arlberg, Sankt Jakob am Arlberg, Sankt Christoph and Stuben am Arlberg. Both halves are connected by slopes and lifts. With the connection between Alpe Rauz and Zürs created large opportunity’s for skiing tours.

Even though all from beginner to expert can find some things to like in ski Arlberg, the advanced skier will have a lot more opportunity to really enjoy the scale of the entire ski resort. For Skiiers that are starting out make sure you start from Lech where most of the blue runs are located. If you are a lover of cozy restaurants and huts you will most likely not get your money’s worth in ski Arlberg.

For the après-ski fans it is advised to stay at Sankt Anton am Arlberg which is known for its unbeatable après-ski in Austria. with amazing huts like the Mooserwirt and with a buzzing nightlife as well.

Strengths and weaknesses for ski Arlberg

Strengths:

-Excellent for advanced skier, ski Arlberg offers countless of challenging steep slopes

-Fantastic offpiste, one of the best off-piste areas of Austria a few weeks in not enough to explore it all.

-Great opportunities for ski tours, 305 km of slopes and all are connected perfect for the ones who want to ski tours.

-Friendly après-ski, as said après-ski is one major plus, focused mainly in Sankt Anton. If you are looking for a quieter village make sure to pick one of the other amazing places located on the ski Arlberg region.

-No flats, a dream place for snowboarders

-Snow security is of a high level due to the schneeloch.

The weak points:

-Beginners, beside the village of Lech ski Arlberg is not the perfect location to pick up skiing or snowboarding for the first time.

-Expensive, ski Arlberg is not a cheap resort so keep that in mind if you want to watch the money  on your holiday.

-The number of restaurants in the resort, for the large number of slopes there are relatively few restaurants or huts where you can enjoy a nice lunch break.
