About Lake Grundlsee

Lake Grundlsee is an alpine lake located in the Styrian part of the Salzkammergut region. With an surface area of 4.22 km2 lake Grundlsee is the largest lake in the state Styria.  The lake is surrounded by mountains and is of near drinking water quality, the water temperature in the summer varies but can rise to as much as 25 degrees if it is a sunny season. during the winter the lake regularly freezes over so that ice skating is possible.

Scheduled excursions boats will make tours on the lake during between May and October. Due to the wind lake Grundlsee is popular for sailors and surfers.

Both Grundlsee and the nearby Toplitzsee are said to contain finds from the time of national socialism, this  combined with the clear water creates a large interest from scuba divers.
